Why should I organise a makeup trial?
Bridal trials are optional, but I strongly recommend them. Booking a makeup trial saves time and stress on your wedding day. It’s the best way to ensure your desired look will suit you, and allows for adjustments without the pressure of time. Trials also give me the opportunity to become familiar with your face and skin, ensuring all products sit perfectly. Plus, it’s a chance for us to connect and make sure you feel comfortable and confident for your big day.
-
What happens at the makeup trial?
During your trial, I will work with you to create your dream makeup look. This is a collaborative process, tailored uniquely to your features and preferences. Trials are a safe space to communicate any concerns about your makeup or skin. Please bring 2–3 inspiration photos to ensure we’re aligned visually. Extra time is allocated for trials, and wearing white is encouraged.
Trial duration: 1.5hrs
Trial cost: Please get in touch for current trial pricing.
-
When should I schedule a trial?
Scheduling your makeup trial on the same day as your hair trial, and a few days after your spray-tan trial, is recommended to see how everything looks together. Otherwise, lining up your bridal trial on your hens' night is a great wear test. I suggest that your preview is booked roughly 1-2 months out from your wedding date.
Trial Availability: Trials are held on select week days only. Unfortunately trials aren’t available on weekends due to bridal bookings.
Trial Location: All trials are held in salon, located in Peregian Beach.

How do I choose my makeup inspiration photo?
Choose inspiration that is realistic for your features. Consider your skin tone, hair colour, eye colour, and age. Remember, makeup adapts differently depending on complexion and face shape. Social media is a good source, but be aware that photos may be filtered or edited. Skin texture and natural features like fine lines and pores are normal.
All makeup artists specialise in different styles. Coastal Glo by Zo focuses on natural, understated makeup, enhancing your own beauty rather than following trends. Referring to my Instagram or website for inspiration photos is a great place to start!
-
Will I need to touch up my makeup?
I use the highest of quality products to ensure the longevity of your makeup, however long wear is never guaranteed and varies depending on the person and skin type (This is why trials are recommended!)
You will receive a complimentary mini touch up kit with your appointment that includes a powder puff and your choice of gloss/lipstick. However, I suggest purchasing a concealer so that you have the option to touch up, as well as a lip liner. Lipstick is unavoidably the most common product that won’t wear all day/ night. I am always happy to give you a personalised recommendation, if you are unsure which product you will need to purchase for your special day.
-
I’m not used to wearing makeup, and would prefer a more natural look. Will I look overdone?
I pride myself on being a makeup artist that specialises in natural bridal makeup, creating elegant and timeless looks. I use high-quality makeup and skincare in my kit to provide a flawless result.
However, one thing to keep in mind is that healthy skin = healthy looking makeup. To ensure a flawless outcome, investing in regular facials and having a consistent at-home skincare routine will be your bestfriend. Your skin prep should begin 6 months before your wedding.
-
How should I prepare my skin on the day of the wedding?
Cleanse your face, moisturise, and avoid using any new products that day. Please avoid heavy oils & sunscreens the morning of your appointment.
If you’re getting a spray tan, waxing or facial, schedule it a few days before your wedding so your skin is in its best condition for makeup application.
-
Do I need a lash lift or can I wear false lashes?
False lashes are complimentary with all makeup services. If you plan to wear false lashes, please avoid having a lash lift beforehand, as false lashes cannot be applied effectively over lifted lashes.
Lash lifts are recommended only if you intend to wear just mascara and no false lashes.
-
How long before my wedding ceremony should the bridal party be ready?
I recommend that hair/makeup is completed at least 1.5hrs prior to your ceremony time. This allows plenty of time to get dressed, take pre-ceremony photos, etc without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. I always prefer to have makeup finished in time for your photographer!
If you are getting ready further than 20mins away from your ceremony location, I recommend being ready roughly 2 hours prior to your ceremony to allow for the above and travel.
-
Where will you set up on the day?
I require a bench/table at hip height to set up, in a well-lit space with natural light. The dining area or kitchen usually works best.
If you are staying in a hotel with bad lighting, rest assured I always bring a light with me, just in case! Please note that bedrooms and bathrooms aren’t ideal.
-
What happens if you are sick on my wedding/formal day?
In the circumstance that I am sick, rest assured that I have a wide range of contact with other local makeup artists that I highly recommend. I am also part of the Queensland makeup community, which allows me to source a professional replacement in emergency situations.
-
What makeup brands do you use?
I use a variety of high quality makeup brands, and only stock products I genuinely love and trust. The beauty industry is forever evolving and changing, as does my makeup kit. However, you will consistently find me using the following brands; Dior, Nars, Charlotte Tilbury, Hourglass, Laura Mercier, MAC Cosmetics, Estee Lauder, Bobbi Brown, Tarte, Rare Beauty, Makeup by Mario, MECCA Max, and many more.
-
What methods of payment do you accept?
A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking, which can be paid via direct transfer.
The remaining balance must be paid at least 2 days before your appointment. Total funds must have cleared prior to commencing work.
This will be communicated prior to the day and is stated in the Terms and Conditions.
